Fake News
From what I've heard and/or seen from Younger adults, their main sources of News content would be Instagram, Twitter or any News outlets/articles (CNN, Fox, CBS, etc). The difference from this however, coming from more Middle aged adults (or elderly) their sources would be, News outlets, or Facebook. They seem to like less attraction with Social Media sources, than to the actual News sources on Television. Not a lot use Newspaper, there are still some who would mind hearing a radio station or podcast when in the car, but thing's have changed and moved onto a more mobilized form.
The way we grab an audience to be interested, is to keep things aligned with what people wish to see. Not everything needs to be boring with recent Politics, or a sad tragedy in said country. It could be about wholesome things, or amazing content such as a recent trailer to a movie is coming up to spread word about it. Or about an miracle happened during the holidays, humanity being humanity.
With this, it helps not just grow, but build ways to make the News more looked upon in future technology. They can make the latest generation become interested in checking the news more weekly or daily. They could keep the old classic form of News worthy content just for the older generations who wish to not use Mobile device. This is what people have to learn with how things are changing and becoming to keep an audience attraction.
I like the approach you took on your article such as you were explaining what companies should do to cater to each age group in order to keep progressing and reaching audiences.
